Baton Rouge Cardiology Center Offers Coronary Calcium Screening to Help Clarify Heart Disease Risk

Early Detection Screening Saves Lives

Baton Rouge, La.Baton Rouge Cardiology Center will be providing coronary artery calcium (CAC) screening, also known as a heart scan.

In celebration of 40 years of exceptional heart and vascular care, Baton Rouge Cardiology Center is offering this early detection screening at 40% off the $90 price.  The screenings are offered on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The coronary artery calcium test is a non-invasive screening tool that measures the amount of calcium (plaque) in the coronary arteries. The test uses state-of-the-art equipment and is painless and safe.  Results are reviewed by a board-certified cardiologist.

Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.

“The coronary artery calcium score can help us to identify who is at risk for heart disease before a person has signs or symptoms,” said Dr. Darrin Breaux, cardiologist with Baton Rouge Cardiology Center.  “The measurement is used to detect early stage plaque build-up in heart arteries, before it turns into blockage.”

Registration is required.  For more information about the Coronary Calcium Heart Scan, call (225) 214-7730 or visit www.BRCardiology.com/coronary-calcium-score.  Participants can also request an appointment online at www.BRCardiology.com/request-a-screening-appointment.
